Tokyo Station
Interview
Japan International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD Japan) Review
In the process of restoring Tokyo Station, which is considered the gateway of Japan, close to its original appearance, lighting was designed in a way that color temperatures could be controlled in accordance with the various materials (brick, stone, copperplate, roofing, etc.) of the building. Therefore, illumination not only brightens up the building as a whole but also creates an empyreal space where arches, apertures, and pillars are lit up in a sophisticated manner. The scene changes according to the time of the day, and its details are gracefully operated from sunset until nighttime.
