KANAZAWA TOKYU HOTEL

Viewing: Guest only

Japan Federation of Interior Planner’s Association (JIPA) Review

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Kanazawa Tokyu Hotel and the recent launch of Hokuriku shinkansen, an express train connecting Tokyo and Kanazawa, the hotel has been renovated to create the sensory space expressive of the brand’s policy: “hospitality through trust and integrity.” The interior is designed so that the façade and exterior demonstrate a synergistic effect, identical to the town’s scenery. Moreover, spatial elements such as latticework, the culture of wa, foil and lacquer, and Japanese trees and flowers, derived from Kanazawa’s regional-cultural identity, climate, and history, are molded in accordance with the purpose of each of the hotel’s spaces, amplified by the use of lights and shades. The hotel is decorated with works by the Japanese-style artist Allan West that express tradition and spirituality in foil and rock-extracted pigments.
