TOKYU PLAZA GINZA

Japan Commercial Environmental Design Association (JCD)  Review

Tokyu Plaza Ginza is a large-scale commercial lease building, constructed in Ginza, a traditional commercial district of Tokyo. The complementary themes of its design are tradition and innovation. The external design is made to resemble the faceted glass of the Edo era, acting as a “container of light” made of refined glasswork that adds dynamism to the city. This idea penetrates the space inside the building as well. A giant well-hole-style lounge on the upper (6th) floor that opens the view from Ginza to Yurakucho and Hibiya is in itself the city’s “container of light.”
